Setting up a referendum or a "will party X keep control" question? Use Yes/No instead.
What kind of number is this?
#
Count
A whole number of things — ships sunk, incidents, seats
Duration
Time until something happens — months until a ceasefire
Continuous
A value that can be fractional — GDP growth, inflation
How do these scenarios relate to each other?
Mutually exclusive
Exactly one will happen — probabilities sum to 100%
Independent outcomes
Any, all, or none could happen — each resolves on its own

Resolution criteria
Optional, but recommended — be specific, ambiguous criteria lead to contested resolutions.

Card image (optional — logo or flag, shown on the feed card)
No additional configuration needed for Yes / No.

Reason (shown on hover)
Counts toward the total and the majority threshold — just excluded from what analysts forecast.

Display as
Currently governing
Tick every party in the current governing coalition — used to give analysts a real starting point in the submission flow
Coalition Mode
Adds a second forecast — who will actually govern — alongside the seat allocation
Likely coalitions
Two outcomes are always included automatically, alongside whatever coalitions you define here:
Minority government — the largest party governs without a majority
Hung parliament — the result is too fragmented to call a specific outcome
Units people can enter
Tick the units this question should be answered in. The smallest one becomes the unit estimates are stored and scored in.
This exercise was created before units were configurable, so the ticks below were inferred from its unit label. They match how its estimates are already stored — saving will make that explicit. Adding a smaller unit changes what the stored numbers mean, so only do it if no estimates have been submitted yet.

Reference values optional
Known figures worth comparing the forecast against — a target, a current reading, last year.
One per line as label: number. Leave blank if the question already makes the comparison obvious;
the forecast's own opening figure is shown either way.
Suggested low / mid / high
Calculated from min and max — adjust any of these directly if they don't feel right. Shown as quick-pick suggestions when someone submits an estimate.

Resolution (optional)
How and against what this will actually be resolved. Leave the tolerance blank if you don't want a tolerance band shown at all.

Tolerance type
Tolerance
Ongoing exercises have no scheduled end, but real-world events can still make one moot — e.g. tracking a company's stock value until it gets acquired.
What might cause this to resolve early? (optional)
Submission input pattern
How analysts enter their estimate. Stepper suits small precise counts; compact text (1.5B, 200M) suits exercises where values can range into the millions or billions, since a +/- stepper can't sensibly cover both a "how many ships" exercise and a "billions of euros" one with one step size.

Window length (days)
Windows are generated a year at a time. You'll get an alert here in admin as the schedule runs low so you can extend it — analysts never see anything about this.
Decay rate
How much weight older submissions retain. 0.85 = each missed window costs 15% weight. Applied at aggregate calculation time.
Submission mode
Carry forward is recommended for most exercises.

Resolving closes all open windows, locks all submissions, and triggers Brier score calculation for every analyst who submitted. This cannot be undone.
